Novotel Changsha Intl Exhibition Center

Patty, the General Manager, was so warm and kind. She made the end of our stay wonderful by arranging a car to take us to the airport and looking after our breakfast. I’d happily stay here again next year when I’m in China. The hotel is enormous and seems to cater mostly to conference guests. We were there during a very quiet spell, so it was lovely having the huge breakfast room nearly to ourselves. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast, including Western food, dim sum and Chinese dishes. There’s also a small convenience store inside, which came in handy. The metro is about a three-minute walk away, and it’s a direct ride into the city center on one line, taking around 25 minutes.

As of October 2023, the area felt empty, even though the infrastructure was already in place. There were unfinished apartment blocks around it. The hotel itself is huge and new, across from a huge new exhibition centre, with pleasant parkland nearby.

The bed was comfortable, and the room was fine. The hotel looks newly built, and the metro is a short walk away. It’s quite far out from the city, but convenient for business because it’s near the exhibition center and airport. Check-in took a while because reception couldn’t find my booking, even though I’d made it through the official Accor app. My Gold status and All Plus China membership weren’t recognized, and I’m not sure whether that’s normal across Accor or because I was speaking English. The hotel was crowded with a dance competition group, which made it hard to feel at ease. During the busy morning rush, there was even food spilled on the elevator floor.
