Really nice hotel, with excellent service and what I thought was the best restaurant in Changsha!

The location is super convenient, right by IFS and Wuyi square. The hotel has an artsy feel, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay.

The lobby feels like a social hangout, and the bar is a hidden gem. The new Malaysian manager Dennis and the team there were passionate and professional, with live DJ sets and lots of creative cocktails. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and full of energy. Jeremy even walked us to the supermarket so we wouldn't get lost, and Marissa in the restaurant patiently handled all our requests. At around US$110 a night, I was surprised by how spacious, clean and modern the room was. It had a huge window over the city. The hotel is new, centrally located near the main sights, and its vibrant design is great for photos. It felt like a five star stay, from the service and facilities to the food. Young people and families would especially enjoy it, and I felt young and energetic while I was there. Breakfast was good, with made to order local and Western dishes as well as a buffet. The Nespresso coffee was good too. The semi buffet lunch was excellent value at US$12-16, with salad, daily soup, a main, a signature drink and dessert. There were Western and Eastern mains, including abalone fried rice and crab roe noddle, and the food was good quality. There was also a pop up station for grab and go beer, ice cream and snacks.

The hotel team made the stay for me. Patrick, the hotel manager, was warm and professional from the start, and seemed genuinely invested in guests' experience. Jeremy at reception was a pleasure every time I passed through, always smiling and ready to help. They made me feel valued, not like just another room number. Maqo is right in Changsha's IFS complex, among luxury brands such as Balenciaga and Cartier. The twin towers look beautiful lit up at night, and the location is about as central and lively as you could want for exploring the city. My room was bold and colorful, with a youthful, stylish feel that still seemed refined. It was spotless, the bedding was plush, and the city views through the floor to ceiling windows were breathtaking. The food was a nice surprise too, with good Western options alongside local dishes. The steak was genuinely excellent. I'll definitely return to Maqo Changsha on my next trip, and recommend it to people I know traveling to the city.
