The upgrade cost was miscommunicated at the start of our stay at Park Hyatt Changsha, but the hotel took responsibility and sorted it out quickly. After that, everything was outstanding, the best experience we’ve had in Changsha. Of the three hotels we’ve tried in the city, Niccolo (also in IFS), St. Regis, and Park Hyatt, this one came out on top overall. The facilities are in excellent shape. Niccolo opened almost 10 years ago, and I’m not sure when St. Regis opened. Park Hyatt’s location is much more convenient for tourists than St. Regis. There isn’t a service specifically labeled “butler service” like at St. Regis, but the care felt just as good. We could call for help or message the team on WeChat, and they replied right away. Breakfast was a highlight too, with both quality and variety. The hotel has only one restaurant, but the IFS mall offers loads of other options. Its first-floor entrance is right beside the hotel entrance. There’s another way in on the fourth floor, though you have to walk outside for a minute to get there.

The hotel is beautiful, with gorgeous rooms and a thoughtfully laid-out spa and exercise area. It has a yoga studio, steam room, jacuzzi, a huge lap pool and hydrotherapy. The location is solid, and the staff were really helpful, especially when I was trying to figure out how to get around and use Chinese apps. Tazz helped me arrange a taxi to the airport, too. Getting to the rooms takes time. The lobby and rooms are on floors 50 and above, and the room elevators are in a different hall from the lobby elevator. If you’ve forgotten something after reaching ground level, going back up and down can take 15 minutes, and there’s often a wait for the elevators. The hotel borders the mall but isn’t inside it, so coming back through the mall means going through a few extra doors.

Set in IFC Tower 2, one of Changsha’s tallest buildings, this is China’s newest luxury hotel. The rooms are roomy and nicely designed, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the spa is very impressive. It’s one of the best hotels in China, if not the best. If you’re in Changsha, make sure you stay here.
