It's 30 degrees, and they still don't switch on the air conditioning, even though they say there's central heating. I've never come across a hotel like this.

We were a group of travelers looking for somewhere to chat. Other groups usually use a room for their gatherings, but we sent me to ask if we could stay for afternoon tea until closing. The lovely waitress agreed. Then the Thai girls worked out the price and package, and I have to say, these young people are really clever. We didn't have to go outside the hotel to find drinks. Deal, a fancy afternoon tea.

The guests seemed like a pretty mixed bunch, and some came across as quite unsavory.

A subway line is being built right outside now, so getting around should be much easier in the future.
