The room was spacious, but the air conditioning was extremely noisy and barely cooled it. A woman who seemed to be from housekeeping came to check and said the temperature was set too low for it to work. When I complained about the noise, she told me to raise the temperature and shut the bathroom door. I couldn't see how that would make the room cooler. I don't speak Mandarin, though I understand a little, and she kept asking me to speak it even though I was using a translator. Traveling in China without Mandarin is frustrating, and staying at a worldwide chain hotel didn't make any difference. The TV also didn't work. Several people in my tour group had to change rooms that night. Breakfast was okay, but the coffee machine wasn't working properly. Our local guide said they don't need to turn on the air conditioning at night, which didn't help at all. I won't come back.

Smoke from other rooms came into the room, so we were breathing secondhand smoke all night. The air conditioning or partitions seem to be part of the problem. There are other things that need improvement too: the curtains in both the bathroom and bedroom are see-through, which means no privacy when showering.

In the middle of summer, they wouldn't set the air conditioning below 27 degrees. I complained and got a fan. When I said I was checking out, they asked me to wait 10 minutes, saying the temperature would drop, and only then adjusted it. Even the staff were using fans. I've never seen a hotel like this. It doesn't even deserve one star.
