The price was just over 200 yuan for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, so I booked before National Day because it looked well located, only two or three kilometers from central Changsha. It’s an old four-star hotel under Hainan Airlines, and once I got there I regretted booking. The room felt as old as William's Castle. The carpet had obvious stains that wouldn’t come out, along with cigarette butts and burnt rice crusts. The doorbell, lights, and central control didn’t work, and there was no WiFi in my room, so I ended up on the neighbor’s connection. You really do get what you pay for. When I realized I had to stay three nights with no refund, I was close to tears.

The staff were warm and proactive, which really helped make our gathering. It’s a good value hotel in the city center, close to landmarks including the Ferris wheel and Helong Stadium, so it’s easy for everyone to find.
