Yunda Sheraton International Plaza Apartment Hotel

As a Platinum Elite member, I was upgraded to a suite, and the room was well maintained. I can’t remember much else, but I was comfortable during my stay. It’s the most central Marriott hotel and a good pick, especially for a first timer.

The room is a little dated, though still okay. Breakfast was good and had plenty of choices. It’s a standard five-star hotel that meets the usual five-star standard.

There were a few inconveniences, and the laundry service was uncomfortable, but one person made the stay good for me: Fengqing Peng Qing, who worked in the lounge. They were always kind, genuine, and passionate. I’m sure plenty of people felt the same way. With so many shortcomings, I still give the hotel the highest marks because of them. Dear Peng Qing, I’m grateful and won’t forget that time. I hope you’re always healthy and happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I think Peng Qing’s nickname was Fancy.

I’m an elite platinum member, but I didn’t feel treated as a valued member here, unlike at the Crowne plaza hotel I’d just stayed at in Zhangjiajie. I checked in around 10pm and was told they hadn’t arranged the extra bed because I hadn’t asked when booking. We were put on different levels, and I insisted on being near my children. They eventually found an extra bed and upgraded me to an executive room, but it was pathetically small and the shower room was cramped. A helpful porter did bring our luggage up. As a platinum member, though, I wasn’t offered lounge access or the three extra free breakfasts for my children. The service was far below IHG - Crowne plaza in Zhangjiajie. The room was much too hot in winter and the temperature couldn’t be adjusted. The breakfast area was small, with few choices. They didn’t recognize me, unlike the IHG group, where they knew me right away and served special food for a loyal member. At checkout I asked the porter to collect my luggage, then later asked where it was. The front desk said he was only going now. When I asked why, she said there was only one porter at 7am. That was a bad attitude toward a loyal platinum member, and not a good excuse when I could see the porter doing nothing. When I asked him, he said nobody had told him. Please train the front desk. Marriott’s and the old Sheraton’s reputation is deteriorating. I’m disappointed.
