The room was in really bad shape for a five-star hotel. There were disgusting body-fluid stains from the previous guest left on the sofa, and they hadn't been cleaned off. The shower also had a lot of mold. Service itself was excellent, with nothing to fault there. They offered to give me an upgrade on my next visit as compensation. Service: very good. Room: very bad.

Dinner was a mess: the buffet food was stale, and I even found a hair in a chafing dish. Check-in was just as frustrating. Nobody spoke English, and it took about 15 minutes just for me. Chinese guests cut the queue while staff let it happen, and saying something didn't help. I couldn't control the room temperature, and after three attempts to get help, the operator still couldn't speak English and was no use. It was too hot to sleep, so I went to the concierge, but they said they were fully booked and couldn't offer another room. Just “sorry.” The next day, on my way to work, I noticed a Marriott Hotel across the street and went in to look. They were full too, but the manager overheard me talking about what had happened at the Sheraton and gave me a free upgrade to the presidential suite. I switched hotels and have stayed there with my colleagues for over a year. I've never been happier. They have expat management, and the service and food quality feel different because of it. The whole Sheraton experience was a disaster.

There are local restaurants nearby, and the hotel connects to a large shopping mall with Walmart and cinemas. The price is good, too. It's clean and spacious, with a five-star feel, and works well for a business trip. Breakfast is okay, with local dishes.

Food and a coffee are easy to find with Wanda mall right next door. This is one of my favorite Sheraton hotels in China. I’d give the ambience, bed, and service 5/5; design, food, and price each get 4/5.

The main drawback for me was that the staff didn’t know English. Otherwise, it’s a very good hotel, with pleasant ambience, good rooms, affordable rates, and malls and a tourist spot nearby.
