The staff were young, and some spoke English well. One young woman even took the initiative to speak with me in English. The front desk helped kindly, though at times their tone felt very official. The cleaning lady on the guest floors seemed to work nonstop from morning until evening, and deserves a like. The Club Lounge had moved to the Ground Floor Lobby Bar for some reason, but the staff did their best to be friendly, especially Korol, a nice young man. I do question the policy of charging for alcohol in the Lobby Club Lounge. I’d expected drinks to be free, or at least for there to be a limited selection, based on Club Lounges I’ve visited elsewhere in the world. I respect the hotel’s policy, but management should consider whether it needs to be this way. I also saw kids jumping into the swimming pool, with no sign or reminder from the life guard about pool discipline.

It’s a nice, new hotel, and housekeeping and the concierge gave great service. As with many hotels in China, English was lacking, even at the front desk. Breakfast got a bit boring after five nights of the same food every day, and the price is on the high side.

The view is spectacular, the room is a great size, and the breakfast buffet was by far the best of this trip, even though I stayed in many hotels. I’ve been coming to Chaozhou for years, and the hotel options have gone from none that were decent to plenty. This new hotel has been the best one I’ve stayed at here so far. It’s a lot farther from my suppliers, but worth it. The old town looks far away, though it’s only a 30 min walk.

I really appreciated having a Gong Fu Tea set in the room. The hotel itself is clean and has an interesting design, and we enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza, a new hotel on the bank of Han River. One issue: its location on Google Map was quite a distance from the Han River and showed it on the west side instead of the east side. Staff service needs improvement; it seemed they hadn’t had enough training or that it wasn’t carried out properly.
