Lanuo Hotel (Chaozhou Ancient City People’s Square Store)

When we returned in October 2024, we cut our four-night visit short and checked out the next morning. The hotel was pretty shabby. On our August 2019 stay, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was clean and new, having opened in 2018. There was a 24-hour convenience store in the building, several restaurants nearby, and more food, shops, and a mall with a well-stocked supermarket about a 10-minute walk down the main street. We were visiting relatives who lived nearby. Our deluxe suite cost SGD74, and when we asked, staff offered breakfast at no extra charge, but we didn't use it. The big problem was smoke in the only lift, the lobby, and the rooms. I'm sensitive to nicotine, and it was quite unbearable. The toilet clogged late at night the first time we used it, but staff dealt with it promptly. We learned to flush constantly because the plumbing seemed to manage only very small amounts of solids at a time. Vienna may be one of the highest-rated hotels in this rural area, but I'd say it's three-star at best. The staff earned four stars for their enthusiasm and helpfulness.

The rooms are nice, and the staff are really friendly. They speak fluent English.

The room was clean, and the surroundings were quite nice.
