Chengdu Sonderia Hostel&Bar-Lazybones

Great location and super staff! Ask reception to help arrange tours, cooking classes, and event tickets. In the afternoon, their bar area is a nice place to take a break from a day of touring Chengdu. Super!

I didn't like this place ten years ago, and I still don't. I was an hour late checking out, and they wanted me to give them a five-star review to get around it. I paid them and left. Traveling here alone as a woman, I didn't feel safe. Some staff were helpful, but not with everything. The front desk woman was very sick when I arrived. I was wearing a mask, but she wasn't. If you're too sick to work, I think you should at least wear a mask so you don't infect vulnerable people. This felt more like a Western experience than a Chinese one. Chengdu has a misogyny problem, just a heads up.

After three days here, I can say it was the best hostel I stayed at in China. The rooms were really nice, and the shower especially stood out.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were genuinely helpful and nice. The location was fine too. I stayed three nights and found it a decent hotel for Chengdu.
