Crowne Plaza Chengdu City Center by IHG Hotel

I spent four nights at the Crowne Plaza City Center Chengdu in mid-March 2026, when China's biggest food and alcohol industry festival, the annual Sugar and Wine Fair Festival, was being held there. The hotel was almost unrecognizable, turned into a trade fair inside and out. Thousands of people came through, most by bus, and getting to the hotel was difficult. The reception was hard to reach too, with queues just to get to the elevators and huge lines there. The restaurants had been moved. The friendly staff kept saying "sorry, sorry," but no one told me about any of this as a regular guest. If I'd known beforehand, I would have cancelled. Don't book in March or April unless you like being around a trade fair.

It's a great spot for eating and shopping, and a shopaholic would love it. There are plenty of food choices and convenience stores inside the hotel. The rooms are clean and I slept well. The metro stations are a few minutes' walk away, and the train station is a short Didi ride.

I had a really bad stay here. There was no aircon in the bedroom, though the housekeeping was excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. My sister fell badly by the hotel's side entrance and had to go to hospital after returning to Singapore. She faced huge medical expenses there 🥲. The hotel has since addressed the accident by putting tape on the floor.

The staff were attentive, friendly, and made things much easier for us as tourists by giving us information and sorting out any issues we ran into. Absolutely recommended.
