The hotel is tucked into a large park rather than a busy city center, so for more local food choices you may need a taxi or a longer trip toward places like Chunxi Road. On the other hand, its location by the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base is hard to beat, and the free shuttle makes visiting the pandas easy. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had an excellent range of options. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is a fantastic choice, especially for a panda visit.

We were nervous at first about getting around Chengdu without speaking Mandarin, but the staff at Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden Hotel made everything smooth. They greeted us warmly and helped with food and drink orders, taxis, and all sorts of things with patience and a smile. We felt at home despite the language barrier. The surprise upgrade to the Panda Room was a highlight. It was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a special charm. We also loved the peaceful setting and serene views, while still being conveniently close to Chengdu's attractions. My wife and I had an incredible stay. The staff's care made our trip unforgettable, and we'd happily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting, whether they speak Mandarin or not. Thanks for such a wonderful visit. It's clear the hotel tries hard to please. The settings feel grand throughout, from the spacious lobby and lift area to the dining atrium, with art pieces and reproductions of famous works displayed around the place. A Filipino band plays every evening, even to an empty audience, and they're funny and professional enough. The gym is sparse but well kept, and the indoor heated pool has frequent water quality checks shown on a display board. Food is generally agreeable, though Chinese dishes are the safer bet. I ordered US tenderloin steak through room service, medium well, and it arrived cold and undercooked. I felt unwell for a day afterward. Front desk staff speak good English, but for room service it's easiest to quote the menu item number. The hotel is very far from the city center, though near the panda center. People smoke everywhere, so get used to it!

We had eight wonderful nights here, and the staff were helpful from the moment we arrived. They surprised us with a free upgrade to a panda suite, a birthday cake in the room when we came back from the panda base, and gifts, wine, and flowers on our last night. Everyone was polite, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were clean, the king-size bed was the most comfortable ever, and there was a huge buffet selection. I've stayed in many hotels, and this is the best. I can't fault it.
