The location is west of Chengdu near the high tech park, so it's quite a distance from both the city and the airport. For anyone going to the west hi tech park, though, it's one of the better nearby options. There's a small kids' play area, a huge breakfast room with lots of choices, and dining and meeting facilities that can handle large groups. The basement has a spa and heated pool. If you can get access to the club lounge, the extra perks are well worth it. As usual for Crown plaza, the facilities are great.

The room thermostat didn't work when I arrived, but they got it fixed. There are quite a lot of smoking areas, though I suppose indoor smoking is something to expect here. The breakfast has a good variety, but oddly, there aren't any power outlets in that area. Apart from those things, it's a nice place, with great staff and a pleasant area.

I was waiting on a sofa for my guide to check me in when a staff member told us we couldn't sit there unless we ordered a drink. Nobody else was using the seats, and she wouldn't let us wait for even a minute. It feels wrong when hotel staff make guests feel guilty just because they don't know a rule.

The room is new and the receptionist was friendly. The gym and pool are shared with public customers, but they weren't crowded. One downside: platinum members don't get complimentary breakfast.

A modern, well-equipped hotel with lots of room, on the western edge of Chengdu.
