It's a new hotel, but the air conditioning policy made my stay miserable. The central system sets the temperature, and guests can't choose the air conditioning mode or control the fan speed. ChengDu is so humid that my room felt hot and damp. I complained, but the staff couldn't help and gave me a fan. I'm a lifetime platinum member, and this was the first time I'd stayed somewhere guests couldn't control the air conditioning. I arrived late, and by the time I realized it wasn't working, it was past 10 pm. I didn't have much choice but to put up with it. I wanted to warn other guests.

I stopped in to ask for advice, but the receptionist laughed with the two other people working there. I told them that was really rude, then left.

Having FamilyMart and 7-11 right downstairs made it easy to pick up snacks and basics, and the location is good value for a Marriott. We had a spacious, comfortable family room with several places to sit and relax. The open bathroom means you can hear the tap across the room, though, and some of the wood finish was already peeling even though the hotel seems newly opened. Breakfast had a decent range of bread and savoury food, and the front desk team were friendly and helpful. The free laundry room, with two washers and two dryers available around the clock, was especially handy. One inconvenience is the Didi pick-up along the main road, where bikes also pass. A proper pick-up and drop-off spot would help.
