The location is strategic, near Chunxi Road, and the price is reasonable given that things are within walking distance. Breakfast had a good selection, though it gets extremely crowded. The hotel seems fairly new and has a lot of foreign guests, with relatively few locals. Honestly, there were many Malaysians. At my first check-in, I was upgraded to a suite using my SNA. The room was very clean, but it felt more like a studio than a proper suite. I received breakfast and late checkout as a Bonvoy member, Platinum on the first check-in and Titanium on the second, a day later. There was no lounge access. I was told that every new FP in China has no lounge. The key setup was mishandled for three days because I’d made three separate bookings for SNA purposes. The team knew about this at check-in, but the keys still weren’t configured properly. Manager Yuki responded sarcastically that I should have made one booking. I told her the issue was how the key had been set up, not how I made the bookings. The sarcasm was unnecessary. There are seven washers and seven dryers. Laundry is usually busiest from 9:00 pm to midnight, so keep an eye on your clothes and set a timer. People may move items from the washer to the dryer without asking, and the dryer can be opened at any time, so someone looking for their own clothes may open yours. My second check-in wasn’t great either. The team had agreed I’d get the same suite, but it hadn’t been arranged. After I spoke with them, they moved me back to it. It was a small hiccup, but could have been handled much better.

John Tang, the Guest Service Manager at Four Points Chengdu, made a real difference during our stay. He was friendly and hospitable, helped with directions, and gave us great food recommendations. We highly recommend asking him if you need anything. The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with very comfortable beds and pillows. Being near Chunxi Road Metro Station also made it easy to walk to Chengdu attractions like IFS and Taikoo Li. We had a really enjoyable stay.

The check-in and checkout were very slow and need improvement. They also required an RMB1000 deposit, refunded after checkout, and the walk from reception to the lift was a bit long. The space for cars and buses to drop people off is narrow, but it was acceptable. There are a few salons nearby. Behind the hotel carpark is a famous chain selling wanton noodles, though I thought they tasted bad. Rooms are spacious, the bed is comfortable, and there’s a small window for ventilation. They provide USB charging, a refrigerator, slippers, a bathrobe, hand gel, body lotion, and full amenities, including large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Cross the bridge for about a 10-minute walk to malls and shops. Google Tang Gong Tang Po, opposite IFS, in the building with MacDonald on the third level. The food was super yummy. I went for dinner twice, and the friendly boss can recommend what to get.

The people made a difficult stay much more pleasant. Mr Joey Yang quickly moved us to another room and offered an upgrade when the safe wasn’t working at check-in on the afternoon of 13 December. The technician was on leave, so we appreciated his decision. Later, Mr John Tang took our call about the bathroom smell and immediately offered another room. He personally showed us there and arranged a cute panda doll and fruit plate as a goodwill gesture. We also appreciated the female staff member who helped us order delivery late one night and shared her phone number, ending in 8518. There were a few problems along the way. After a late performance at Shu Feng Yayun, nearby restaurants were closed, so we ordered delivery. A Meituan driver’s message showed it was taking longer than expected. The room phone extension didn’t work despite about 15 minutes of trying, so we went downstairs and found the delivery robot already outside our room, with no call or notification. The toilet also wasn’t working well and caused a strong smell. Since the phone was out, we managed on our own that night. I messaged Mr Joey early the next morning but he was on night shift and replied in the afternoon. Once the phone worked, I called the desk and a cleaner auntie came quickly, but the smell returned after we got back from the laundry room. We felt paiseh calling repeatedly, but couldn’t sleep with the smell. Breakfast offered plenty of choice. The Assam Milk Tea was especially nice, and the chef at the live station could make special dumplings and Dan dan noodles on request. The modern laundry room was easy to use, with machines pre-set by the hotel so we didn’t need to add detergent. Staff were patient and responsible, and the excellent service is why I’d still give Four Points by Sheraton Chengdu Chunxi Road five stars, even though some facilities could improve. Some ideas from my experience at other four-star hotels: provide an in-room guide or service menu, consider room service, improve bathroom fittings with a bidet or smart toilet, and install a bathroom phone for emergencies. It would also help to check that all sockets and chargers work, provide bathrobes, offer a pillow menu, improve the toothbrush and toothpaste quality, and consider a welcome drink. These are suggestions for consideration, shared sincerely and with no complaints. Thanks again to Mr Joey Yang and Mr John Tang. With some facility improvements, this hotel has a lot of potential.

The service and location were good, but breakfast options were limited and the taste was just normal. Room 4003 had a small window and basically no view.
