Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Huanhuaxi

I was put in a smoking room, and it was dirty and below standard. Holiday Inn should inspect why this branch allows this to happen, and why there's no manager available to handle customer requests. They need to improve if they want to keep running the business.

The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices, and the food was delicious. I couldn't believe this was a 3-star hotel: the room was spacious and beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and there were lots of amenities.

The buffet breakfast was good in both its variety and quality, and it was included in the room price. I stayed on a high floor, where the soundproofing was acceptable, luckily, because traffic noise from the nearby Central Ring Road was considerable. The location isn't particularly good. The room carpet got really dirty, so please stop using carpets in the rooms. The disposable toiletries could be better too, those toothbrushes were awful. Is the self-service laundry room free to use? Holiday Inn and other chain hotels need to keep improving, or brands at the same price level will easily outcompete them.

The room was reasonably comfortable, and the breakfast was decent. Though this wasn't a very new Holiday Inn Express, the front desk handled things efficiently. It was near the street, but the soundproofing was better than I expected.
