Chengdu was our first stop in China, and this was our hotel for the first two nights. It’s easy to get to, though about 30 minutes by taxi from the main centre. The hotel is simple and clean, and the staff are good. There’s a real language barrier, so they can’t always help, but they do try hard. Breakfast was good and tasted clean and healthy. Free laundry and a dryer were a big plus, as this is the only hotel I’ve visited that offers them at no charge. My favourite part of the room was the duck feather pillow and duvet. I honestly slept really well because of them, lol. The shower was great too, with really good water pressure, and the mirrors don’t steam up even when I use hot water. That’s another reason I gave the rooms five stars. There’s an unmanned store beside the hotel. As someone not used to scanning doors to get into a shop, I found it overwhelming, but you can buy food there or order instead. Location-wise, I think it’s a bit far out, and I’d prefer somewhere within walking distance.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Our family of four spent two days there. The first day we went out, so things were okay, but on the second day we were tired from travelling and stayed in the room all day. It was really annoying that the room phone kept ringing. I answered, but nobody spoke. The room next door was noisy, though that was okay. We kept our own phone volume low, but the receptionist called to remind us about it, and I don’t understand why they were upset with us. I was very upset by the whole thing. The receptionist wasn’t friendly and had a bad attitude, even when our family went out to eat. They held our passports but couldn’t read Chinese, even though they were Chinese. The food was extremely salty, maybe because I can’t handle much salt, and the noodles were half-cooked. In the morning, some Chinese women also argued with reception and breakfast staff because they had waited too long for their children’s food and it still hadn’t been made. The hotel was terrible and unfair even to a child.
