Novotel Chengdu Chunxi Road

Fang Xin (Fang Xin) deserves special thanks. She always had a smile and checked in to make sure I had settled in. She also made sure my expected packages arrived and arranged to forward them to my next destination. Much appreciated, and I'll return. This relatively new Novotel in Chengdu was comfortable, with up-to-date furnishings including USB-C charging points and a 28m sq room. The location is ideal, a short walk from the Chunxi Road shopping belt, so it's quiet for the evening while keeping food and shopping close. There's a convenience stall two doors away and plenty of restaurants nearby, including a MacDonalds. The front desk team were friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful with directions and food suggestions. They also helped me plan when to leave for the train station and sorted out delivery packages that were delayed and could only arrive after I left.

I wouldn't choose this hotel again because the Metro is relatively far away. JinJiang Hotel is the closest station, about a 15 mins walk, while Taikooli and Chunxi Pedestrain Street are around 19 mins on foot. There are eateries and a mall popular with youngsters ( Cosmo ) nearby, a Mcdonalds about two minutes away, and several convenience stores within five minutes. We booked 4 rooms for 8 people for a 5 night stay. Though there were no connecting rooms, the staff had put all the rooms on the same floor after we emailed to request that. The hotel is extremely new, and you can still smell some renovation. The rooms were relatively large and clean. One of the larger pillows folds into a right angle, which was interesting. The shower room tended to smell musty in the morning. There's a laundry and ironing room on the 13th floor, with free laundry and dryers. My niece said her clothes came out of the dryer without wrinkles, which was impressive. There was no welcome amenity or welcome drink, though I didn't ask about it despite having All Accor Diamond status.

We had a delicious breakfast with plenty of choices. We also want to thank the reservation staff, who were friendly and responsive whenever we approached them. A special thank you to Mr. Oliver, the Guest Relations Manager, who arranged our stays on 23/5 to 2/6. He was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and quick to answer our requests. His knowledge, pride in his work, and very good English stood out, and he went the extra mile for us. My husband and I are truly grateful; his service made the experience memorable. The front desk team were all very polite, with lovely smiles and a great attitude. Every conversation and explanation was clear and easy to understand. I felt comfortable during my first visit to Chengdu and first stay at this hotel. Mr. Tao, also named Long Tao, was especially helpful. I'd recommend the Novotel to friends visiting Chengdu, especially because of him. I don't think they need to consider other hotels. It's fantastic, and I'd give it five stars. I hope I get the chance to stay again next time I'm in Chengdu! 😃
