Fengjiangjing Apartment (Chongqing Nanbin Road)

The riverfront setting gives the hotel a fantastic skyline view, and my suite on the 30th floor looked out over a magnificent scene. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the room was very nice. At the Marriott Executive Lounge on level 36, they put out simple snacks from 5 to 7 pm. Breakfast on level 2 leans heavily Chinese, with lots of noodles and dumplings. The noodle chef caught me off guard by refusing to serve them in queue order.

The location was nice and the room was good, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The shower was a real letdown, though. Water pooled in a corner instead of draining properly, and before long there was a terrible smell. Housekeeping and the supervisor knew about it and offered to clear the water after each shower. That would be pretty uncomfortable when you're trying to relax in bed after a late shower. If management already knows about this, a five-star hotel shouldn't put guests in that room. They need to fix it first.

The lounge staff made my five-day stay especially pleasant. They greeted me each day, reminded me about the weather, and shared tips for local attractions. I was also given a complimentary suite upgrade. Sheraton Chongqing is showing its age, with worn interiors compared with newer five-star hotels, but its spot in the historic district is a real plus. Traditional homes and apartments are all around, and a major subway station is only about five minutes away. A good choice for seeing local life and Chongqing traditions. For newer amenities or river views, there are plenty of other options.
