Holiday Inn Express Chongqing Airport Zone by IHG

The breakfast buffet has cooked-to-order noodle soup with ground pork in a mildly spicy soy sauce. That was the one hotel photo I took, and it was a happy way to start my day.

We stayed twice while in transit to Lijiang, and both stays were a shocker. During the second stay, both rooms we used smelled strongly of cigarettes despite being non-smoking rooms. Staff blamed the guests. In both stays, the rooms blasted warm air at 24C even though we set them to cool at 19-20 Celcius. We couldn't sleep, and staff admitted the settings had been overridden. What's the point of letting guests adjust them? Check-in was very inefficient, and they forgot our requests for takeaway breakfast and an airport send-off at 11pm. They booked a DIDI for five of us in a four-seat car. A few weeks before our trip, I emailed to ask about airport pickup and got no reply. I emailed again and was told rather harshly, in broken English, that they didn't do early-morning pickups. That isn't true, since they now have 24-hour service. With so many staff failures, I can't fathom how this hotel gets good ratings. There are closer options near the airport, like Novotel. I don't recommend this hotel at all.

The room is great, but unfortunately the employees didn't speak English, so I had a hard time communicating.

As IHG Reward One members, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a family room for elite members. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and made our family trip stress-free. The facilities felt brand new and there were no unpleasant odors. The hotel was excellent value for money, and the airport shuttle was a real relief after travelling. It's an ideal choice when transiting through Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. The staff were warm and provided outstanding service. Mr. Guo at the front desk was especially memorable, professional and friendly, and gave us detailed information about the hotel and surrounding area. We felt right at home. The clean, comfortable rooms and convenient location left a lasting impression, and I'd happily choose Holiday Inn Express Chongqing Airport Zone again if I transit through Jiangbei Airport. I'm grateful to the team for making the journey more enjoyable.
