The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms clean, though all the carpets gave me the impression they might not be cleaned enough. The rooms also have nice views, and breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit and vegetables. There’s an open market on the third floor with lots of restaurants. It’s easy to reach by car or public transport, with the subway about a five-minute walk away. The reception staff speak some English, and Mastercard and Visa are accepted. There’s also a travel agency inside for Three Gorges cruises. I’d recommend it because it feels a bit different from the modern, sterile hotels nearby.

The hotel is in a great spot, with plenty of restaurants and subway access, and it was very clean. I stayed for seven days on my first trip to Chongqing and had a lovely time. Everyone on staff was kind and polite. They patiently helped me figure out food delivery, suggested a shop for photos in traditional Chinese clothes, and offered places to visit each day. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

I picked this hotel for my last night after reading online reviews. I wanted to avoid the crowds at Hongyadong and explore the side streets and photograph the lights. The food street inside is nice, with lots of souvenirs to buy, but arrive early because there’s too much to see in one go. There’s still some railway noise at night from the light rail or something similar. If noise worries you, a cheaper hotel across the street might suit you better, though you’ll need to get there earlier to explore Hongyadong.

This hotel is in a tourist area, and on weekend nights it gets packed enough that it’s hard to move around. It’s okay if you can still enjoy the crowds, but getting through with a suitcase is especially exhausting.

Up at the top of Hongyadong, the hotel has an antique-style interior. Staying overnight is worthwhile if you want to experience what it’s like to live in Hongyadong-style architecture.
