Le Méridien Chongqing, Nan'an

The gym and pool were decent, though the hot tub and sauna weren’t working during my visit. The hotel is reasonably priced for the room’s size and quality compared with central jiefangbei, which is only a 10 minute taxi ride away. It’s in a convenient, more local neighborhood with malls and lots of places to eat.

The staff were helpful throughout, and check in was easy. The reception area is grand and has English speaking staff. My room was large and luxurious, with a bed that felt like two Queens put together. The bathroom had enough amenities, green as well as English, and Earl Grey tea, though there was no coffee. I enjoyed the local shops and the big shopping center next door, with Western cafes and local food nearby. Traffic was horrendous during the two days of drizzle. I had a good stay, but breakfast fell short of the Le Meridian standard and quality I’ve had elsewhere. The local Chinese selection was good but bland. More than 70% of the guests were Europeans. There was no tea at breakfast, although it was in the room, and no bacon. The coffee maker had no English instructions, and my wholemeal slice still wasn’t toasted after two runs, even with the dial at three quarters.

A pretty average hotel overall. The amenities and toilets are a bit run down, though the location is handy for shopping, eateries, and fast food. Breakfast service and selection could use more attention.

We had a great stay at Le Meridien Chongqing. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff looked after us well. It’s close to shopping complexes, and breakfast had a nice range of local and Western food. Thanks to the staff for their hospitality.
