Niccolo Chongqing

We came back for two separate stays in the Discovery Suite, and it was lovely both times. The suite sits right at the hotel corner, with incredible views. We were there for the Saturday night drone show too. It was quite far away and seen from an angle, but you could still get the idea. I’ve included a few photos for reference. The service was outstanding, the breakfast fresh and extensive, and the suite was finished to a very high standard and immaculately clean. There was no lingering smoke smell on either visit, which can be an issue in China. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in, and good value for money.

The staff here are really great, but there seems to be a basic problem with the room smell. I was on the 59th floor, four floors below the smoking level, and the room stank. We changed rooms and looked at four in total, but they all smelled the same. I can’t tell whether people in Chongqing smoke in their rooms, the HVAC is connected somehow, or it’s the fragrance they use. People smoke everywhere in Chongqing, unlike Shanghai or Shenzhen, which is a real shame.

The view at Bar 62 was stunning, and the cocktails were really good. The staff were thoughtful and lovely too. Such a great experience!

This is specifically about one staff member, Jacky Luo. Most people mainly speak Mandarin and don’t speak even a little English, so communicating can be really challenging. Jacky was incredibly helpful, patient, and clear, and always ready to assist, especially my mom, who was by herself there most of the time. He made everything much smoother, from answering simple questions to handling small details. His kindness and professionalism really stood out. The hotel is lucky to have someone who supports international guests so well.
