Radisson Blu Plaza Chongqing

For the price, especially with the room upgrade, this was probably the best hotel of my month in China. As a Radisson VIP member, I was recognized and upgraded to a nicer executive room with a river view and Nespresso machine. The view was amazing, and even better from the huge executive lounge. The lounge wasn't very cosy, though, and its evening food was Chinese-only and fairly basic, with rice, noodles, vegetables, and fruit. Milk with the Nespresso would have been nice too, but those are small things. Reception and lounge staff were friendly. Some didn't speak much English, but they tried and used a translator when needed. Breakfast was okay: the Chinese options were great, while the Western food, including the stale bread, wasn't very good. Chongqing may not be on many Western travelers' radar, and I felt they did their best. It's not right in the city center, but the location is decent, with a metro line 10 stop about a 10-minute walk away, and that line also goes to the airport. I'd stay again.

The room was roomy and had lovely views, and breakfast was a nice complimentary extra. The hotel is by the river and fairly close to the main attractions.

There are good views and the location is nice. The room was a good size, but despite requesting a smoke-free one, the air didn't feel clean and smelled odd. Breakfast was okay, and the facilities were good: free sauna, pool, gym, and yoga room. You can also get bar drinks and snacks for an extra charge. The city's lights are really impressive.

The breakfast was the best I've ever had, with loads of choices from Chinese congee to Western food. My room on the 32nd floor had a spectacular view over the Yangtze River, and the room itself was top class. Service was great too: the front desk had arranged a breakfast box for me before the dining area opened. The spa could use some improvement. There's also a small shop, two restaurants, and a decent-sized gym.
