At night, the neon makes this area feel especially lively, though it gets packed, so keep an eye on your belongings. The Liberation Monument stands among the skyscrapers at the center of Chongqing's main commercial hub. Around it, you can shop for everything from luxury labels like LV and Prada to local goods, then try snacks such as spicy noodles or hotpot along Bayi Road Food Street (Bayi Road). It's also a good place to watch people. Shop and stall staff rarely speak English, so have a translation app ready for ordering or asking about sizes. This is a cashless area: set up Alipay or WeChat Pay, since vendors and malls often prefer digital payment to cash or international cards. Hongyadong is about a 15-minute walk away, so the two spots are easy to visit in one evening.

The Liberation Monument sits amid malls, restaurants, and street food stalls, and the area around it is one of Chongqing's busiest, liveliest places. I liked browsing the international brands and local boutiques, with plenty of hotpot and snacks nearby. Once the lights come on, the street feels especially energetic and modern. It's a fun place to shop, eat, and people-watch.

At night, the bright lights and crowds make this a lively place for a walk and some people-watching. Shops, street food, and entertainment are all gathered here, so there's plenty to browse or try.

The People's Liberation Monument is right in the middle of the pedestrian area. It was first built in 1941 to commemorate the war effort, then renamed in 1950 to celebrate Chongqing's liberation. Visiting Jiafangbei Pedestrian Street (Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street) made for a wonderful, memorable experience. It's a must-see in Chongqing.

Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street gives you a feel for modern Chongqing, with its skyscrapers, malls, and local vendors all close together. I found it good for sightseeing and shopping, even if you don't eat there. There are international brands, local shops, and eateries along the main street, while the little side alleys have a bit more local flavor. Neon signs and street performers add to the lively scene and make for good photos. It gets very crowded, so expect a busy walk. There are lots of food choices, but many seem aimed at tourists. For authentic Chongqing cuisine, I'd look for local recommendations. The area is especially energetic in the evening when the lights come on.
