The scenery around Jianchuan Town and Jianyanglou ancient town is very nice, though hardly any foreigners seem to visit.

The Sunday market feels genuinely local and picturesque, with hardly any tourists so far. It has all kinds of things on offer, from vegetables and prepared food to handicrafts, and the traditional houses and buildings nearby are well maintained. It feels much more authentic than Yuanyang, Dali, and Xixhou.

The old town is lovely, especially with its surroundings, though it's a long way out and you'll need to take a bus.
