We spent a month here in summer, about 25 of us altogether, including my parents, children, and their friends. The owners were so kind, especially to the kids, and always seemed to care about what they needed. They kept lovely flowers around the property, and the welcoming feel made it easy to feel at home. Our room was cozy and spotless, and there was a fully equipped kitchen plus a nice outdoor dining area. The place sits right by a stream in a quiet neighborhood, though it’s still convenient. The ancient town of Dali is a short walk away, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We barely took any photos because the kids were having such a good time and we were busy chasing after them. It was a memorable, comfortable stay, and I’d happily recommend it.

Absolutely filthy, with mold and dust. Our room went three days without cleaning. On the first night, after arriving at 10 pm, I had only three strips of toilet paper and had to ask reception for more. The first-floor rooms open onto a hallway, so loud people make it impossible to sleep. There’s no heating, just heated blankets for the beds, and no cup for toothbrushes either. I wonder where all the good reviews come from.

We had a good stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We arrived late, and one of them actually walked us to the only restaurant still open instead of just pointing us in the right direction. The room was a good size, the bed was comfy, and the shower was good. It’s a short walk from the old city walls. There’s a washing machine to use, and you can hang clothes on the rooftop. The wifi, though, was hard to use, even by Chinese standards.

We liked the spacious room, the tatami and futon beds, and the toilet. The hot shower was great, and the kettle worked well. Wifi was strong and fast by China standards. Guests can use the washing machine and hang laundry on the rooftop. The place was a little hard to find, especially with big luggage since the nearest bus stop isn’t very close. The host can pick guests up there, which we wish we’d known. They’re very responsive on WeChat, and both the host and hostess were friendly and helpful. It’s an easy enough walk to the ancient town, with eateries, convenience stores, and electric bike rentals nearby.

A cute place to stay, but the map location is wrong and it’s hard to find. Search for “Dali Nangibieyuan Inn” on Didi to get a taxi to the right spot.
