The complimentary breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. I especially liked the bacon, you tiao, doughnuts, chicken rings, egg tarts, and beef. The free laundry and gym were handy too, and the laundry area looked pleasant. One thing management could improve is the lighting there: sensor lights on the ground floor should come on when guests enter, even late at night. Our room was cleverly laid out, with space-saving touches like a hidden stool and a long, slim TV bench. The marble surfaces felt comfortable to use and looked high-class, as did the marble walls and floors in the renovated toilets. We were very impressed with the hospitality at Hampton by Hilton Dalian Zhongshan. Xiao Li, Xiao Qiu, and Xiao Yang handled room service admirably, responding promptly to every problem, even in the middle of the night. There were stubborn-looking and fresh stains on toilet seat covers, which made them unpleasant to use. Housekeeping should pay special attention to cleaning any new or persistent stains as soon as each guest checks out.

The breakfast buffet had a broad mix of choices, including Western food, Chinese dishes, and Dalian specialties. The staff were polite and helpful, and everything was really clean. Our room was spacious, with two double beds, and a large bathroom. I’d definitely book here again if I return to Dalian.

It’s easy to get around the city and reach the attractions from this central location, even though the hotel isn’t right beside the sights. The room stayed quiet despite being next to a main avenue, and it was clean with a great shower. I’m not sure why the rating is only 3.5. It’s a three-star hotel, but the room, food, and service are much better than at most so-called four-star hotels in the US.

The lobby bar looks like it’s just there for show and doesn’t actually operate. Apart from that, everything was as expected: standard Hampton rooms and a decent breakfast spread.

The staff are friendly, and breakfast is good. The location and facilities are decent too. But nobody speaks English, and the Wi-Fi is practically nonexistent.
