For under 80,000 won a night in February, I got a three-person suite on the 49th floor with excellent views. The value and service were great, and I was very satisfied with the stay.

A reasonably priced place to stay in Dalian, about a 10-12 minute walk from Zhongshan Square. There’s a Starbucks and Holy Land nearby. Breakfast is mostly Chinese-style, and I didn’t find anything worth eating. Think of a 2-3 star hotel breakfast in Jeju. The elevators are the main hassle. Three hotels share six identical lifts in a building of around 55 floors, so they’re crowded and the waits are long. The Madison appears to occupy floors 49 to 54, with its lobby on 54. Novotel has its lobby on the first floor and seems to have rooms from the 40th floor up. The third hotel, "Star???", which I hadn’t heard of before and seems to be a local Chinese brand, uses floors in the 30s.
