The breakfast spread had a good range, though much of it was lukewarm instead of hot. The hotel itself is beautiful, with fairytale-like details, and watching deer wander outside made the stay feel magical. We also liked the mountain shuttle, but couldn't quite work out how to call it from the base. Some clearer instructions would help. From arrival, the staff took great care of us, quickly moving our luggage to the room. They offered tea at check-in, and the early check-in gave us more time to enjoy the lovely setting. The Castle Hotel made for a luxurious, memorable visit, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended, five out of five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I grew up near Dalian and had wanted to stay here for a while, so we finally visited over Lunar New Year. My fiancée and I had a great experience overall, and the gym, food, and other amenities were all 10/10. Our particular room did run a little hot, since it was midwinter and the heat was turned way up. We plan to stay here again next time.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a soft bed, and I liked the breakfast and the room service menu. Getting around was easy too, since the uphill walk back takes only seven minutes if you miss the shuttle after 7 pm. But the temperature made the stay uncomfortable. Outside it was still 17°C at the start of winter, while the room stayed at 24°C or warmer. I complained, but nothing changed. The Castle Hotel said state regulations meant the air conditioning couldn't run. I’m not sure I believe that, especially since Grand Hyatt Dalian kept our room comfortable when we stayed there in the same month last year. I wouldn’t return at this time of year. I’d probably choose Grand Hyatt Dalian for a comfortable temperature instead.

The bathroom had black mold, and the air felt too humid. It seemed like the bathroom exhaust fans were switched off, perhaps to save heat, which may be why mold had formed. I don’t think it’s safe to stay here in those conditions. The hotel looks upscale at first, but the executive lounge is closed until further notice. Eligible status members get two daily coupons for a juice or water at the bar instead. Staff also struggled with English. When even the front desk manager on duty can’t manage a basic conversation, written English cards explaining what staff need would help.
