The hotel arranged for our group tour worked out well for a two-night stay. I got in late the first day. After visiting the Yading Scenic Area the next day, I still had time to go back to the hotel, then walked into town, about 20 minutes each way. Two Tibetan sixth-grade students I met along the way kindly showed me into town; we split up at the Rainbow Bridge. Roses were blooming all around the hotel. Across the river there was a wooden boardwalk, but it was closed because of the landslide risk.

My room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, and the decor was clean and simple, like at other Inn Express hotels. Inn Express seems to have made a real name for itself in Ganzi Prefecture. This Daocheng hotel sits right outside the entrance to the Daocheng Yading Scenic Area. It's built into the mountainside and the conditions are quite good. Though it's been under construction for two or three years, it still looks very new, and the exterior is beautiful.

The rooms are spacious and nice. It's a large hotel with modern decor, and the restaurant is big and well decorated, with a coffee machine.

The catering service's food was quite good and cost 60 RMB. Dampness and mold were an issue, though, and the room and bathroom hygiene and equipment upkeep need a lot of improvement.
