The room was basic but good enough for the price and our short stay. Ask for one that doesn’t face the main street, since it gets ridiculously loud early in the morning, and the street noise during the day is mad too. That isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it’s worth knowing. The internet often didn’t work. As in many hostels in China, other guests were often the source of problems, making noise or smoking right outside our door without caring who was nearby. In my opinion, management should have done something to encourage basic respect.

The common area had a water dispenser and a shared bookshelf, and the room was well equipped, especially compared with hostels I stayed in later on my trip. The front desk could arrange tour bus services too. When I checked in on July 2, 2014, there was a slight smell in the bathroom, but it went away after I opened the windows and doors to air it out. Other than that, everything was comfortable.

They charged us almost twice what we were supposed to pay. We’d called to change the reservation, and they accepted the change “without any problem,” but when we arrived they said they’d forgotten and told us we should have called again. The staff were unpleasant and unwelcoming. The hostel was dirty, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, and the toilets were awful 🤢. A terrible experience. I strongly advise against staying here. Avoid it at all costs.

The shared bathrooms are subpar. Check that the sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, and the rest are fresh if you stay here. I won’t stay here again!
