Vienna 3 Best Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple)

The breakfast was good, and the staff helpfully arranged a car for our day trip to Yungang grottoes. The toilet was amazing! There were some broken things, including a leaky shower, and noisy dogs outside. Still, it’s a decent place to stay if you’re visiting Datong, for the yungang grottes, for instance.

The staff were friendly, and my room was clean. I really enjoyed staying here and would come back on another visit to Datong.

The best place in town.

The restaurant on the second floor was the highlight for us. Locals come from out of town to eat there, and we enjoyed it both nights. The service was quick, the menu had lots of choices, and the prices were very reasonable. We needed a translator to make sense of the dishes. The hotel itself felt clean and well cared for as soon as we walked in. Our room was large and quiet, and we enjoyed looking across the corridors toward the restaurant tables. The rooms and bathrooms had everything we needed for personal care. The architecture is unusual, with rooms on each floor opening onto the restaurant. Breakfast was well stocked, including plenty for those of us who like sweets. Staff were attentive too, and quickly sorted out a small plumbing problem. The location worked well for walks around the historic center and evening visits to the splendid city walls. The tour operator chose this hotel for us, but it’s definitely worth considering.
