There was a lot to choose from at both breakfast and dinner, and the food was the best part of the hotel for me. It’s also very clean and quiet, a good fit if you’re here on business. The location is practically in the city center, prices are quite low, and the rooms were fairly clean and well kept. We had some trouble communicating because nobody spoke English well, but we managed, and the staff helped sort out payment problems. The gym is pretty well equipped too.

This place feels old. The rooms smelled bad and weren’t clean, so we switched three times before finding one that was okay, though still nothing special. I wouldn’t call this a five-star hotel.

If you’re visiting the Modern International Guangdong Expo center, the location deserves four stars. It’s just across the avenue, and the pedestrian walkway makes getting to the expo hall easy without having to walk along the sidewalk or deal with rain or blazing sun. The rooms are spacious, with older but nice furniture and plenty of room for clothes and luggage. The bathroom was roomy enough, clean, and had all the amenities I needed. Housekeeping did a good job, and the front desk team tried their best. The manager really stands out and is always around to help.

The hotel is right across from Dongguan international exhibition centre, with an elevator bridge connecting the two. It’s huge, around 570 rooms across three towers, and one tower is over 50 floors. The rooms feel a little drab and dated. Breakfast costs 80rmb, so we went for a simple meal on the side street to the right, where there are a few convenience stores.

There are several restaurants in the hotel, serving Western, Japanese, and Chinese food. Breakfast was very good, especially the noodle bowls. Staff have limited English, but there’s more than one Western concierge to help out. English-speaking travelers can ask for Garry, who’s friendly and can share advice about the local area. To me, this is the nicest hotel in Dongguan.
