InterContinental Foshan

The lobby is magnificent, with several spots to have a drink, relax, or just hang out, and the service was professional. My room was a reasonable size, and breakfast was awesome. The location is great too, within walking distance of the beautiful “Thousand Lights Lake”, with a supermarket and shopping mall right next door.

I've stayed hundreds of nights at the Intercontinental Foshan, and it still feels like the most welcoming, pleasant hotel. The sights, sounds, and smells bring back so many fond memories. The staff have always been so accommodating. This place will always have a spot in my heart.

The breakfast was huge, with an incredible variety of dishes, and great value. My room was elegant and nicely decorated, and the staff service was great. There was a fair amount of English spoken, which made things convenient. I'd recommend staying here. I booked a basic king room for the weekend but was upgraded at check-in to a high-floor Lakeview room. The welcome drink was nice, with a generous pour of red wine. I did take off a star because the glass wasn't as clean as I'd have liked.

I've stayed at this hotel for many years and have generally found it very good, but I can't give it five stars this year because the internet connection was incredibly slow. During my October 2025 stay, when I used the shuttle to Canton Fair, it was so poor that I couldn't communicate with suppliers I'd met or reliably access email. I hadn't had this problem on previous visits, and I'm not sure what changed. Because of this, we may need to stay at another hotel in the future.
