Fuzhou Hotel

The food was so-so, though maybe that's just my appetite. It seemed like nobody at the hotel could speak English, but the staff were extremely friendly and did everything they could to help me.

Its location seems to be the main reason for the high price. The hotel feels old and hasn’t been renovated, and a lot of the facilities and equipment need fixing or replacing.

The organizers put thought into the booking and chose a four-star hotel. It looked quite nice at first, and had been renovated, but the age showed in a lot of basic issues. Our room wasn’t even cleaned when we checked in, so we had to wait for housekeeping. The air conditioning ran for an hour without cooling the room, which was rough in Fuzhou’s June heat. There were also power cuts and unreliable internet. I ended up preferring to pay for a business hotel somewhere else.

The hotel offers accommodation and dining alongside business, shopping, fitness, and entertainment facilities. It has 300 rooms and suites in several categories, including non-smoking, business, and deluxe floors, spread across a 25-floor, 33,000-square-meter building. It is in central Fuzhou, at No. 1 Doudong Road, Gulou District, and opened in May 1999. It received its four-star tourist hotel designation in August 2001. Natural hot spring water is available around the clock in all 300 rooms. The hotel has used water supplied continuously by the Fuzhou Hot Spring Supply Company since it opened. Each room has its own independent water line, with no boilers or electric heaters involved. The water can reach 65°C and contains 25 trace elements, including silicon, fluorine, chlorine, sulfur, arsenic, and radon. Fuzhou’s hot springs are known in China as "Golden Hot Springs," and the hotel describes this water as high quality, saying it can support metabolism and immunity and has particular therapeutic benefits for various ailments.
