Ascott Pazhou Guangzhou

The room was completely overpriced during the ongoing canton fair, and I felt cheated, especially since transport into the gas centre was inconvenient and there wasn’t a metro close enough. We didn’t get the room we had ordered, and checking in now room available until 4 pm. There was a bad smell coming from the aircon, so switching it off made things a bit better. The breakfast buffet was average, with no real healthy options, cheap cereals, and low grade quality. Outside the room was a big, ugly construction and an old ugly building. The area can be noisy because the windows don’t block sound well enough. It is close to Pazhou exhibition, which is convenient. Some gym equipment was broken and unusable. For an Ascott brand, it was very average overall. The internet was unrestricted due to the many trade show visitors, but after the canton fair VPN and free access will be blocked again, which really annoys me. Would we stay again? Maybe, if they charge regular room rates.

On our last day, they upgraded us to a Suite with a direct view of Canton Tower from the room. The location is great, very close to the tower, and the amenities are good. The rooms have a washing machine and kitchen basics like a knife, which made it easy to do laundry and prepare things. Almost all the staff spoke English, which is super rare in China. The WiFi let us use Google and WhatsApp, unlike at most hotels. Highly recommended!

On my first business trip to China, staying at the ASCOTT Hotel in Guangzhou made the visit unforgettable. I had an executive suite, which was spacious, beautifully designed, and very comfortable. Having a separate bedroom was perfect for unwinding after long workdays. The team made getting around the city much easier, which I really appreciated on a first visit. They were welcoming and helped with everything from check-in to local recommendations. The amenities were top-notch, and the atmosphere felt both professional and relaxing. I’d recommend it for business or leisure, and will stay here again on future trips.
