Chimelong Panda Hotel

We went to the theme park, safari park, and circus, all within walking distance, and it was well worth it. The hotel’s location is great, with activities going on all the time. It’s clean, has lovely facilities, and the staff were very nice, especially Xiao Lianghua.

We were worried about finding vegetarian food, but the staff kindly made some vegetarian options for us. The Wi-Fi was a bit slow. The hotel is convenient for Chimelong international circus, and shuttles run to the safari, theme park, and water park. It’s clean and designed with kids in mind, from the decor to the toilet seat. A comfortable, joyful stay for a family vacation.

The circus noise kept coming through, and the balcony smelled of animal poo. They keep the balcony doors locked, and if you ask to have them opened, they make you sign a document saying it’s your responsibility if a child falls. Once unlocked, the door couldn’t be locked again, even with kids around. Why not put the lock higher up so only adults can operate it? The carpet was filthy. Both my wife and I got beriberi from the hotel floor, with dozens of bubbles appearing on our feet two days after check-in. They also scan your face at check-in and say it’s a police requirement, but that’s a lie. We checked into real five-star hotels in Guangzhou’s CBD and they didn’t ask for face scanning. This is three stars at best, whatever rating they give themselves.

This is a good place for kids, with lots of large rooms, game rooms, a huge buffet restaurant serving dinner from 1730-2100, and a big food court open 0830-2300. There’s a mix of traditional Chinese and international dishes to fill you up. Prices are affordable, though on the high side, but it is a theme park hotel.
