Guangdong Xuneng Hotel - Guangzhou

The room was clean, with a sofa bed, complete toiletries, and even room slippers. The counter staff weren’t very friendly, and I didn’t feel welcome or like they wanted to communicate with guests. I do want to thank Yu Li at the front desk for being patient and going out of their way to help us get our taobao items. The hotel is a little inconvenient because it’s inside the road.

We told the hotel while booking and again after landing that we’d arrive at 23:00. They confirmed receiving the messages, but when we got there, there were no rooms. They sent us to Gauss Hotel, far from where we wanted to stay. For the next stage of the convention, we asked to move our second booking to Gauss too, so we wouldn’t have to shift our luggage back and forth. Staff at both hotels said that was fine, but they hadn’t made the change. After checking out of Gauss, we had to pay for a taxi and waste time going back to La Perle just to leave our bags. The La Perle staff knew nothing and spoke little English, so a Chinese friend had to translate. It’s really frustrating to be lied to after traveling from Europe and crossing the border. It felt like they just wanted to get rid of us because we were late and tired. There was no consideration for business travelers. This is only part one, since we still have to return for the convention’s second stage.

Stay: April 2025 | During Canton Fair This was the worst hotel customer service I’ve experienced, and I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels across China. I spent a few nights at La Perle International Hotel during the Canton Fair, and regret it. The staff were rude, dismissive, and no help at all when I had a problem with their laundry service. I’d used self-service laundry without trouble at every other hotel on my trip. Here, my clothes came back burnt and damaged. I asked for compensation, but they waited until after I’d left to say they wouldn’t do anything. They never even apologized, and instead gave me a mean smirk. Completely unacceptable. If you’re visiting China for business or travel, skip this place. There are better, more affordable options just down the street with much better service. The management team at La Perle needs serious retraining. Their lack of professionalism and disregard for customer care are shocking. I’d give zero stars if I could. They won’t get my business again.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and respectful. The rooms are a bit small, and the carpets weren’t as clean as they should have been. It was acceptable overall.
