The evening lounge was a real highlight, with plenty of food and drinks. The hotel itself is huge and fairly new, and the facilities are great. I used the swimming pool and sauna and enjoyed them. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed, with a very high ceiling, though the windows were quite dirty and could use regular cleaning. It’s not in the central area, but getting around is convenient if you’re willing to take the subway. Breakfast had lots of choices, but the crowds made it chaotic. The food looked good but didn’t taste great, and the coffee machine served pretty mediocre coffee. The ground floor corridor was extremely cold, probably because the heat wasn’t on. We had to check out early because the whole area, including Elements and Four Points hotel, was closed for a security check ahead of some upcoming event.

The noise made the stay unbearable. I could hear people laughing and screaming nonstop upstairs, random banging at the door, and even what people were saying. Check-in took a long time, though the service otherwise wasn’t bad. The room looked luxurious, but some of the facilities were old or broken. For the price, it wasn’t worth it.

I booked an executive room, which gave me access to the lounge and its decent evening food. The bar felt a bit soulless, but with the lounge available I didn’t need to use it. It’s a super-sized hotel. I was there for Canto Fair and used the excellent courtesy bus, though traffic meant the ride took around an hour.

The executive lounge was a useful bonus, with a quiet place to work or unwind, good service, and refreshments through the day. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of local and international choices, and staff throughout the hotel were consistently warm and attentive. Guangzhou Marriott Hotel Baiyun is right above Baiyun Park metro station and beside a premium shopping mall, which made getting around easy for both business and leisure. The rooms were spacious and modern, with city views and the comforts I expected from a top-tier Marriott. Whether for a short visit or a week, it delivers a five-star stay. Highly recommended.

The property is great, but it could use more care in the details. Although the staff are helpful, their English is quite basic. Finding South Tower from the hotel lobby is confusing because there’s no signage, and the entrance is especially hard to locate if you’re coming from the conference centre across the road. It seems set up for people arriving by car or taxi. Small issues, but they matter.
