Guangzhou Marriott Hotel Tianhe

Mr. Mars Wang at the front desk made a real difference to our stay. He was kind, patient, and always did his best to help us. We really appreciated how welcoming and helpful he was. Thank you, Mars 🙏🏻

The Executive Lounge on the 20th floor had fewer breakfast choices, but it was much quieter than the restaurant on the 5th floor. We stayed on the 22nd floor, the highest one, and had a great city view. The rooms were clean and well maintained, though a little older than I’d expect from a typical five-star hotel. Since the Marriott Hotel Guangzhou Tianhe opened in 2012, some wear after 13 years makes sense. The location in central Tianhe is handy for malls, shops, and the subway. Traffic gets awful at peak times, and we often got out of our Didi (China’s Uber) and walked because it was faster. The subway is convenient too, though it can be packed depending on the time. I especially appreciated that they offered two double beds, since many hotels in China, Hong Kong, and Macau only have one king bed or two singles.

Grand View Mall is right next to this GZ Marriott, with entertainment for all ages, so it’s a great place to stay if you want things to do nearby. The breakfast buffet had a broad selection with enough variety. When the mall restaurants are full, Man Ho restaurant inside the hotel is a good option. A good choice for families, as you’d expect from most Marriott hotels.

The front desk staff were the best part, especially Ms Miya Chen. She was friendly, always smiling, and did her best to accommodate my requests. I hope hotel management recognizes how valuable she is. It’s a shame I only stayed one night, but this will be my choice next time I’m in Guangzhou. The location is excellent, right beside a mall with lots of food options. My room was spacious and comfortable, and they provided toiletries including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash as well as the usual shower items.
