The free airport shuttle and free laundry were good, and the location works well if you need the airport. If you don’t, it’s a very bad location. Everything in the hotel smelled of cigarettes, including the elevators and my room. Plane noise and outside noise were also an issue. There were a lot of problems in the room: the sink dripped at about 10 percent and leaked onto the floor, so my feet were always wet. The bathroom fan sounded like a Chinese tractor, the toilet seat was broken, and the bed was very uncomfortable. I had to use sheets from another bed to make it softer. My key stopped working the first morning. A young receptionist tried to charge me almost three times the price, saying all the rooms were booked. When I showed my booking, she picked one of ten free keys and gave it to me without apologizing. They also wouldn’t let me bring my bicycle into the room and wanted me to leave it on the street.

I booked based on the Agoda photos, but the room I got looked completely different. Reception wouldn't offer me a suitable room, so I ended up paying extra for an upgrade just to get what my booking had shown.

The free airport shuttle was useful, and the hotel is right across from the night market in HUADONG, with plenty of restaurants and street food nearby. Bus 708 goes to airport T1 and the nearby city, and there are metro stations at both T1 and T2. I stayed seven nights and felt it was good value. My room was very large, with a big bed and a single bed, and it had a kettle, TV and toiletries. The staff and the surroundings were excellent. If you have trouble finding the shuttle at the airport, ask customer service there for help.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I really appreciated them arranging a shuttle for 4 a.m. We had some trouble communicating because I don't speak English fluently, so I relied on Google Translate and it took a while. Patience helps. The place is older, but the rooms are roomy and the beds are large. It's a convenient stop near Shangda Night Market, where the street food is tasty, varied and inexpensive. For an overnight transit and a taste of Guangzhou nightlife, it's worth considering. Thanks to the staff, and I hope they stay healthy.
