Likto Hotel

The hotel is small, but the staff make it feel welcoming. The bellmen were especially kind and ready to help, and although they don’t speak much English, they really tried to communicate and assist us. For our group, the hotel left out water, snacks, napkins, and bananas every day. Breakfast was basic, but enough to get the day started. We stayed at Likto Hotel for the Canton Fair and were warmly greeted with a traditional Chinese dance when we arrived. Its spot near the city center and the free shuttle made getting to and from the fair easy. We keep choosing Likto Hotel each year for the fair because of the service and friendly atmosphere.

Henry made a real difference for us, checking in often, helping us pack supper at a nearby eatery, and arranging our airport transfer smoothly. The front desk staff were just as helpful, ordering food for both the kids and us when we didn’t know the area. I had a wonderful stay at Liketo Hotel Guangzhou with my family, including the children. I’d recommend it to families traveling with kids. The thoughtful service made the visit memorable.

Construction woke us at 2 am, and the room’s shower was mouldy and filthy, with a dead cockroach inside. The hotel also smelled strongly of old cigarette smoke. I was keen to leave. Staff ignored the “Do Not Disturb” sign and came into our room while I was dressing, because the air conditioning had broken. We found a laundry room, but it closed at 11 pm with my clothes still in the dryer. A male employee came to help and operated it incorrectly, which could have ruined my clothes. When we asked him to stop, he pushed me. My husband and I went to reception to ask for the camera footage. With Google Translate, the on-duty manager said there were no cameras in the laundry room and asked us to forgive them. Earlier, the toilet had clogged. The staff member who came was unhelpful and rude, and in frustration physically pushed my husband. I complained at once to the on-duty manager and my booking agent in South Africa. The manager pleaded with us not to report it, and the employee eventually apologized, but the incident reflects badly on the service. The safe in our room didn’t work. When I asked the manager, I was told it was because there were no security cameras on the fourth floor. That left us uneasy and carrying our valuables everywhere. At check-in, the language barrier at the front desk made things difficult, and a sign warned of construction noise and power interruptions. The whole experience fell far below what I expected from a four-star hotel and affected my business trip. A local supplier told me Likto Hotel is considered a one-star establishment under Chinese grading standards, which matched my concerns about its advertised rating. There was no bar or beverage service, so room service wasn’t available either. We had to go out to a nearby convenience store for food and drinks. The breakfast wasn’t international, just Chinese food. We only had coffee on the first morning and skipped breakfast there for the rest of our stay. After all of this, we’ve decided we won’t book accommodation in this city again.

The room is modern, very clean, and comfortable, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I’m glad I chose this place. The Metro stop it’s supposed to be near seems to be closed, though the main train station is relatively close.
