I stayed for five days and found things good, especially the service. They even used their own cars to take us to the Canton Fair and pick us up afterward. I’ve read the mostly bad reviews, but I think the people giving one to three stars are too picky. If you want an excellent hotel with everything perfect, book a five to seven star place. This is a good hotel, and it’s sad that people these days forget to be grateful.

The low price during the busy season is about the only redeeming point. The included breakfast was very poor, and there are better, cheaper places to eat a ten-minute walk north or south. Check-in and checkout were very slow. Every night I noticed cigarette smoke, and one night loud music carried up from the fourth floor for a couple of hours. There was no iron in the room, the fridge didn't work, and the room cleaning missed very personal items left on the floor under the bed edge. Rooms without windows are an odd option, and I wouldn't recommend one. The hotel is now called Kingstyle Hotel and has a Renaissance king theme, with lots of ornate gold and replica paintings. The copies are poor and the pieces don't quite fit together.

I feel completely let down by my stay and wouldn't recommend this place to foreign travelers. I believe they're targeting foreign guests. I found dollars missing from the safe. Don't put money in the safety locker. They changed a 100-dollar bill into a 1-dollar bill, as if we wouldn't know the difference. Please be very careful. The receptionist also gave me what I consider fake money.
