Paco Hotel Chebeinan Metro Guanghzou

The front desk team were helpful, even though they didn't speak much English, and I had a very nice room with a great view. There are good restaurants across the street, while the area itself is mostly hardware and building supply stores. Traffic can be chaotic, especially with bikes and smaller vehicles, more so than elsewhere in Guangzhou. Walk around and explore, and you'll find some really interesting neighborhoods nearby.

The room itself was nice and the breakfast was good. The city view was just the back of a billboard, though. The air conditioning was odd: starting from 23 degrees, I set it to 33 and it cooled until I was freezing, so I turned it off at 20 degrees.

During the Canton Fair, they run a free shuttle bus. My room had a lovely tea set, and when you enter and open the door, the curtains automatically open the window, which is pretty cool. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with convenient daily cleaning, and the breakfasts are excellent. One side of the hotel looks onto a construction market, though, and the staff really need to improve their English.

The lava buns are super delicious, with salted egg yolk inside that flows out when you bite in, so it might burn your hand. The dim sum is a mix of lava buns and potstickers, but there aren't many dim sum choices in the evening. I'd go at lunchtime or in the morning if you want dim sum.
