Somerset Haizhu Centre Guangzhou

Jason at reception was kind and incredibly helpful. We didn't know how to use the delivery apps, and he patiently walked us through the process and made it easy. During our 10-day stay, he was also accommodating about a flexible checkout, which we really appreciated. His professionalism and kindness made our stay comfortable and memorable, and we'll definitely come back.

It's easy to get around from this hotel. It's directly connected to a mall, with several others just a short walk away, plus lots of nearby places to eat. The Canton Fair is about 15-20 minutes away, which worked well for a business trip. The staff were attentive and accommodating, and were a great help to foreign guests. Having a washing machine in the room was especially handy for a longer stay. I had an excellent experience and look forward to coming back.

We stayed for three nights and checked out today, 16 November 2025. My wife and I are from Singapore and this was our first visit to Guangzhou. The stay was barely satisfactory, though some things were good. Our Studio Deluxe Twin was spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good, with noticeable changes in the choices from one day to the next. There was a nice gym with enough treadmills. The hotel is in a quieter part of Guangzhou, but there are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets, and shops nearby, especially at the next-door Haizhu Hopson Life Center and Guangzhou Haizhu Wanda Plaza malls. We did have room-related frustrations: there was a handy bedside socket but no international plug point, and the toilet sink and bowl were a bit too close together. The bigger letdown was the staff. In my opinion, they weren't helpful or welcoming enough to foreign tourists, possibly because of limited English. At check-in, the male receptionist chose to hold the room charge in CNY rather than SGD without asking me first. That isn't standard practice at international hotels and it delayed check-in. On another day, housekeeping took a personal item I'd left beside the toilet sink. I complained and it was eventually returned with an apology, but they gave what I thought was a lame excuse: they assumed I wanted it discarded, though I hadn't said that. Staff we came across on the premises were mostly unsmiling and grumpy-faced. In my opinion, this hotel isn't ready to welcome international guests.

I loved my stay at Somerset Guangzhou. The location is convenient for shopping malls, restaurants, and public transportation, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional the whole time. My room was spacious, clean, and equipped with everything I needed. Housekeeping was consistently excellent, and I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere and modern facilities. I'd happily stay again and definitely recommend it.
