The hotel's hilarious name was the only reason I picked it. At $35 a night, it was a bargain, though there was room for improvement. My single room had a king-sized bed that was quite firm but comfortable, plus a TV, two chairs, bottled water, and a kettle. The bathroom had the usual shampoo, soap, and toothbrush. It was in okay shape, though there was visible wear in the corners and the shower pressure was a little weak. Ximenkou station is very close, with a McDonald's, KFC, and pizza hut inside, and a 7-11 nearby too. My room faced a schoolyard, so the kids played trumpets and drums at 8 am every morning. Recess at 10 am meant either soccer or a dance party to "That's Not My Name". Construction on some floors began no earlier than 9 am, but the noise was loud and constant. The room was a little chilly, and there was no way to heat it. Guests weren't allowed to stay over either. When a friend wanted to crash for the night, the front desk called my room and said he had to check in to stay. A little uptight.

The room was very big, and housekeeping kept room 1108 very clean during my October 22-27 stay. I paid 500 RMB a night. It took staff to get the TV working, and I never managed to use the internet. I tried the western breakfast for 48rmb, and it was a really bad food choice, just eggs and toast, with coffee so weak you could see the bottom of the cup. Don't bother. Go to McDonald's around the corner or, trust me, the Pizza Hut down the street for breakfast. Better price and taste. The front desk needs help. I stood in line behind four people. I know this is how rude Chinese people are. As a hotel clerk she should know Americans wait in line. When I asked how long it takes to get to the airport, she should have answered before starting another conversation with someone else. The same thing happened again the next day at 9 pm, when I asked for a wake-up call and she started talking to someone else again. For that price there are better choices. I had hoped for better service and nicer restaurants. To me, this felt like a $35.00-a-night hotel, one or maybe two stars.
