Guilin Merryland Resort Hotel - Guilin

I read some negative reviews from seven years ago before setting off for a three-day, two-night golf holiday at the resort. They mentioned dirty rooms, cigarette smells, thin walls, and things not working. I hoped things would have improved after all that time, but in 2025 it was still the same. It’s basically a 2-3 star countryside hotel, so keep your expectations down.

On a four-day trip with Guan Tung Travel, the hotel was excellent. Dinner and breakfast were both buffet meals, and the food was good.

It was a good place to stay in China, and cleaner than the hotels downtown.

The location, rooms, and food were good and comfortable. But I was nearly thrown off the pirate ship ride because all the seatbelts were loose, even though I was sitting in the middle. Luckily it didn’t do a full 360-degree turn. My dad held my brother and me down so we wouldn’t fly out, while my older brother and sister in the back were terrified. We were eligible to ride, but amusement parks can still be scary. Think twice before getting on any ride, especially the pirate ship. Everything else was okay, but even after many years, I still remember it.
