JOMO Inn Yangshuo

The hostel's location is great, away from the main town and its peak-time madness. Even allowing for the price, though, it doesn't compare well with the hotels next door. There were a lot of problems during our stay. We were told on the websites and when checking in that breakfast and meals would be available, but the chef was on holiday, so there was no breakfast or other food. We were sent to another hotel to buy breakfast at our own expense. There was no hot water in the evening either. When I asked, the host admitted they only had hot water first thing in the morning, so we had to take cold showers. That's not acceptable when you need to wash before bed. Building work went on every day from 9am to 7pm and was very loud and disruptive. The builders nearly dropped debris on my head because there were no safety measures. The hostess quickly ushered me inside. The beds were rock hard, and no shuttle service was provided. The hotel's bikes were in poor condition. The pedal bikes were rusty, and many had underinflated tires. The gas bike was also in disrepair, and its fuel gauge didn't work properly. We stalled on a highway, though luckily we were close enough to civilisation to walk a short way with the bike and get some gas. After we raised all these issues, there was no compensation or attempt to address them.
